Don't let the pictures fool you! My latest trip consisted of a weekend camping with friends in Torridon, in the north of Scotland. Unfortunately it pelted it down the whole weekend, save for the odd five minute interval of sheer splendour. One such sunburst was captured above, but within minutes the wind and rain returned to give us a complete soaking.

Storm clouds battle blue skies over Loch Torridon. It was well worth sitting through the pouring rain for just a few shots of this scene. Soon after we made our retreat and escaped, defeated to the pub!

It's about time I got out for a spot of fishing, and where better to go than the Scottish Highlands and the Caledonian Canal. I spent the last week exploring Loch Lochy, Loch Oich, Loch Ness and the surrounding area. The weather was typically Scottish (pouring with rain!) but still spectacular.

To be honest, I'm not the best at fishing (I did catch one little Brown Trout), which left plenty of time for photography. There is nothing better than relaxing by a Scottish loch on a calm evening, surrounded by mountains (and midges!) and dramatic skies.

While waiting for my fish to bite I came across a rather sleepy looking Honey Bee. If the truth be told, I'm not quite sure if he was sleepy, drunk or on his last legs (all six of them). Honey Bees have attracted quite a lot of press attention recently due to a dramatic reduction in their numbers. With this in mind I placed the 'calm' subject on a carefully balanced stone for a Zen like closeup.

6th June 2008 - No need to venture far from home

After a whole day spent toiling over a computer and a whole week of technical issues it was great to spend just a little while in the garden trying to capture some of the spring flora that's popped up over the past few weeks. These small blue flowers (scientific name to follow!) were clustered around the base of a tree, right next to my garden fence. It's amazing what can be found so close to home, and I always feel rewarded when the time is spent to look for it.

2nd June 2008 - Soaking up the sun at 3,196 feet

I dug out the hiking boots at the weekend for a glorious walk to the summit of Ben Lomond. I certainly wasn't the only one who thought it was a great day for a walk, there were at least a hundred people on the trail, enjoying the pristine conditions. Making the most of this I recruited a few for some 'admiring the view' pictures. I'd have loved to hang around for some sunset shots, but I think by then I'd be as red as a lobster! An early morning / evening hike is on the list though, it's just a matter of when to fit it in.

18th May 2008 - Stunning Saint Andrews sunshine

Fife yet again displayed its sunny side as I explored the old
town of St. Andrews. This beautiful coastal town holds fond
memories for me as my family spent many a summer holiday here.
I managed to capture around 40 decent images from in and around
the town. The full collection will be available soon.

2nd May 2008 - Fine weather on the Fife coast

Although my intended destination yesterday was the Isle of May,
just off the coast off Anstruther, Fife, a change of plan meant
the day was spent on the mainland. I made the most of the stunning
weather and explored the small town of Elie and other coastal
treasures on the way to Anstruther. Full collection on its way
                soon.

30th April 2008 - Sneak preview from Cobh

I've just finished processing the photographs from
my latest trip to Cobh in Ireland. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the greatest but I made the most of it and scouted out the best parts of the town. I'd be more than happy to return for another go at some of these shots.
